I hit "random" in the Wikipedia quote page, and got "brothels":

I guess that's why it is random...

Haven't posted in a while.....supposedly 10-15 inches of snow tonight.

Friday was Melissa's "boithday" (as she put it)...we got together with Sarah and Frank, Corey, Elizabeth and Bud, and myself at her place, had pizza, strawberry daquiries, tried absinth, and played lots of Wii. I made an action figure ice cream cake....

Then Melissa and I took the Bolt Bus to NYC for the day, on Saturday, to go to New York Comic Con 2009.....that'll be the 3rd Con we've hit together. We did Boston Anime 2008 and Boston Comic Con 2008....what's next AnimeExpo in LA or San Diego Comic Con?

Do you miss seeing a starry sky?

Click here, for a faux one...but still cool, in a lame sort of way.
(The real one is much better.)

Cool picture... )
This made me think of [info]soggycheerios .

This one I just liked.....
.

Another one reminds me of The Mumz...

This one is for [info]soggycheerios , [info]xologirl , [info]eeyore_sings , and [info]skylark29 !

As you can tell, I've spend a hour (or two) "stumbling"....tonight I also saw a play called "Corn is Green" at the Huntington. It was pretty good, I enjoyed it.

Me:1; Plow Truck: 0

  • Jan. 29th, 2009 at 7:51 PM

This is my "artistic" representation of how I was almost smusched by a plow truck in my driveway.

They were plowing the driveway, which is awesome.
He stopped near the garage, when I first started to walk down, and I assumed he saw me (in my giant purple coat).
I was wrong. As he backed-up to leave, I was in the middle of the driveway. There was no way I was going to run up the icy driveway...so I flattened myself again the chain link fence. When he passed by me, barely, I made sure to give him a BIG SMILE AND A THUMBS UP.

Needless to say, he looked a little shocked.

Needle case and a round cat.

  • Jan. 26th, 2009 at 6:35 PM

I found a cool free DIY on Craftzine.com for a needle case.
I had a bunch of needles freely flowing in the middle of my craft drawer, so I thought it time to lasso them up and wrangle them in....

*a little western flair for you all...*
:P

Using some cotton fabric, felt, embroidery thread, and cardboard...these are the results outside and inside...plus no more loose needles!
Not genious or anything, but I like the results....

Also this morning, Gustav was looking out the window as I was getting ready and looked especially "round"...I decided to try to take pictures...which is hard with out flash, and keeping my unsteady hands...well....steady...but you get the idea.

Look at him -- he's round! I should put him on a diet and chase him more with a broom for exercise, but it's super cold in my room, we can wait till it warms up a bit.

I also found a cool link to a DIY camera, but using an Altoid tin...I DEFINITELY want to give this one a try...it might get me some photographic inspiration!

Writer's Block: Year of the Ox

Happy Chinese New Year! The Year of the Ox starts today. What is your Chinese zodiac animal? Do you think you fit the description of the sign?

I don't actually have writer's block, I just thought this an interesting topic....

Sound like me? Why don't you be the judge? :-)

Hello Friends....long time no see...

  • Jan. 25th, 2009 at 3:46 PM

So I haven't posted in AGES x's infinity.....

It's cold. So I decided to spend a lazy weekend doing not much of anything, but napping reading (started and finished 2 books), crafting (I made a curtain door for my closet out of a lost and found curtain from work, some cool buttons and some thread), and knitting (I'm starting a sweater and trying to finish a few hats).

This is the sweater I'm trying to make.....it's called "Nati"...plus the colors/yarn I'm using...

I was back home in MS for 3 weeks over Xmas break.....

[info]eeyore_sings , did you make it down? I saw the Wilson Clan, all except the oldest, Natalie.
Also a large surge/flux of TCA people have made it onto Facebook, talk about a blast from the past. I'm glad I made the TCA group, since my highschool doesn't show up as a real one.....some people haven't changed at all, other...a lot!

[info]soggycheerios , gave me an awesome book of the holidays which had awesome flying stingrays and crazy colors! I LOVED IT!

I finally watched a full episode of the new Dr. Who, with my dad. We used to watch the old Tom Baker ones all the time. I've been catching blurbs about it from following [info]skylark29 's LJ....I enjoyed the episode...it was about parasites that lived in the books of the library and had the British lady from "ER" on it.....Alex Kingston, I think her name is.....anyways, I actually enjoyed the episode, and might try to catch a few more....

I was hoping to catch an episode or too of "Torchwood", but I always managed to miss it....

My parents are growing more of their own veggies, the newest addition being "mutated carrots"....basically they don't have enough space to grow down, so they grow weird....but taste fine...

I did watch the pilot of "Lie To Me" on Hulu. It was interesting and I always was a fan of Tim Roth.

This is the curtain door I made for my closet...by made I mean I took a lost and found from work, bought a curtain rod, hemmed the end, and added some buttons....

And of course, my "heater".....

Comic #370

If you enjoyed this comic you can find more at AnotherRandomDay.com

In response to [info]soggycheerios :

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 56.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next seven sentences in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
6. Tag five other people to do the same.

"Sometimes my friends came along to help, to observe, to share in the ratness of it all.
(Believe it or not, I sometimes had to turn people down when they  requested to come to the alley.)
Derrick was also with a companion -- a tall guy, quiet, laughing occasionally--and he was holding a beer bottle and weaving a little.
I noticed that Derrick had cleaned up his area of the alley using the brooms that were laid next to his chair and his portable radio.
I said the alley looked clean and pointed out that it seemed as if there were fewer rats around as a result.
Derrick disagreed.
He took me back in the alley and shouted and stamped and made the squealing ratlike sound that he makes."

Anyone else can also choose to do this!

So I walked today from Brookline to my old stomping grounds in JP for a meeting. I took a back way thru Brookline (thanks to "Walking Directions" on Google Maps).

I could smell fall in the crisp air...plus the smell of burning wood from fireplaces which I love.

I saw two fun things, which I plan on going back and photographing.

A streetlight with a hula-hoop over it, kind of like a ring-toss.

A tree in front of an apartment building with OVER a 100 wind chimes hanging from it.....AWESOME! They were all different, and making soft sounds, almost like an orchestra. I want to go and photograph it sooo badly.

Anyways, I arrived much sooner that maps.google said I would, so I stopped by JP Licks for an iced coffee (the poor girl couldn't get the machine to work, some manly hippie had to fix it.)

Then had my quick, less than an hour meeting about this event in November, where Leonard Nimoy (EFFIN' MR. SPOCK!!!) is the narrator. I'm so psyched. Trekkie geek inside me is crying tears of joy.

Then I went to the NEW City Feed (WAY COOL)  for a hot pressed turkey, brie, green apple on foccacia sandwich (WAY TASTY), but then the hippies lost my order, and closed the deli. I had been waiting for about 30 minutes at this point, they proceeded to make my sandwich, and 40 minutes after I ordered I was waiting to take the 39 to the 90 degree corner, then walk home.

By the way, it was a cold walk home. The hot sandwich in my bag acted like a heater for my right armpit.

Oh well. I'm munching on it now, not so hot anymore, but still tasty.

So much for my master plan to be in bed by 10pm.
